For those that know Toowoomba’s art scene, you would very well know Monique Correy’s work; inspired by everyday items, her pieces could easily be described as a playful capture of life.
Monique herself describes her style as an "organised mess" - accurate proportions, but with a hint of chaos inside; pieces that draw the viewer in, and somehow evoke a certain affection for a subject matter that you and I may previously have considered mundane. And yet, here it is, elevated to the level of fine art.
Monique is also one of the founders and creative directors behind the bespoke homeware brand mr.c - many of the pieces featuring her original artworks transformed into beautiful pieces for everyday life (I never knew I wanted needed a pink tablecloth covered in lobsters previously, now I can barely conceive the idea of a garden party without one).
With her latest boutique collection of paintings launching 11 March, we took a sneak-peak inside ‘Honey’ - ‘a one night only event which promises to be like no other’ (you can find out more information or register to attend here), and we’re gooey with excitement.
