Living on a student budget doesn’t have to mean two-minute noodles and skipping out on all the fun your friends are having. In fact, there’s a handful of cultural activities, dining experiences, and shopping deals on offer, made just for students like you in mind – we’ve rounded up some picks that will help you unwind from exam stress without breaking the bank.

Experiences

At Event Cinemas, you can grab an $8.00 movie ticket on Student Mondays (that’s half the price of an adult ticket!), or for $10 from Tuesday to Thursday. Just sign up to be a Cinebuzz member and have your student ID in hand, and you’re good to go.

Darling Downs Zoo also offers a concession price, which makes for the perfect chance to grab your uni mates and head out on a day trip to meet some furry friends. You can also score a discounted entry ticket at Cobb+Co and check out the latest exhibition, or catch a live dance, comedy or drama show at the Empire Theatre.

Fitness

Staying fit is a great way to look after your physical and mental health in between stressful study cram sessions. And luckily for students, a handful of gyms offer discounted memberships. The Cave Gym lets students use the 24/7 gym floor at the lowered price of $15.95 per week, while Zumba Toowoomba encourages you to give high-energy dance a try with your first three one-hour classes at no cost, then each after that for just $5 (while full priced are usually $10).

BEAUTY

Don’t just feel good, look good too! Treat yourself with deals at local hair and beauty businesses. You’ll receive 20% off hairdressing services on weekdays at Oscar Oscar in Grand Central, and 20% off colour services at Cheveux Salon if you pop in on a Tuesday. If it’s skincare and makeup you’re after, Mecca Max has you covered with 10% off their online range using StudentBeans.

DINING

And of course, you can’t forget brain food. Score some Italian food that won’t cost an arm and a leg at Vapiano when you dine in during student hours – that’s 2.00-5.00pm every day of the week, and you’ll get 20% off your total bill. How good’s that?! If burgers are more you’re thing, head into Grill’d where you’ll get a free drink with any main on their menu.
