The fourth edition of our newspaper will be out in local shops and cafés from this weekend.

Thanks to our advertisers – Snow Real Estate, Grand Central, seedbook, Wilsons: The Family Lawyers and Toowoomba Regional Council – we have been able to pull together another jam-packed edition of local journalism and photography.

In this fourth edition of The Field Guide, we have, as always, looked to uncover some hidden gems. You'll find a delicious wintery recipe from Amanda Hinds, who has recently opened Emeraude's successor restaurant, Myrtille Bistro. You'll also find a profile on The Plate Restaurant and Bone Idol Brewery for nights when you're not so interested in cooking. Nicole Yap interviewed some local sport stars about their Olympic goals, and Naomi Andrews discovered the story of The Lighthouse. We also learn about the opportunities and responsibilities of Mort & Co and meet some of the international foodies who are bringing their culture to Toowoomba through food. We invited ourselves over to Colin and Mary's cottage, as we do – may images of their beautiful greenhouse inspire you on an overcast day.

These are all people and places that keep Toowoomba's cultural, economic and social wheels turning. It is my pleasure and privilege to share them with you. I hope you find within these pages some ideas for making the most of some very crisp and likely very damp days ahead – or at least give you something to read while trapped indoors.

From this weekend, you’ll find free copies in local businesses (for a list of stockists, click here), or you can purchase a digital copy here if you simply can’t take the chance.

I hope you love it –
