Music lovers will be spoilt for choice when 20 homegrown musicians and live acts come together this weekend for the Live & Local Micro Festival.
Showcasing local artists across 17 venues, the festival aims to be a showcase of both local talent and the opportunities for live music more generally. From singer-songwriter Maggie Elysse in Carnival Lane to local blues band Maplewood at the Walton Stores, dare we say the hill will be alive with the sounds of music? (#sorrynotsorry) There will also be live music at Queens Park, Picnic Point and the Highfields Pool and usual suspects, including The Brewhouse, The Met, Bar Wunder, will also be hosting musicians.
Driven by local emerging curators, Jamie Galley and Andrew Johnson, the Toowoomba Region’s Live & Local initiative is family friendly and free. Bookings are not required but venue capacity is limited (where applicable). The festival will a kick off with an open-mic style event at the Bodega Bar on Thursday, 11 November from 5pm, and run throughout Saturday and Sunday.
