Local women rave about Jodie’s work at Bloom Holistic. Combining traditional science and alternative therapies, Jodie has found a blend of healing modalities to help her clients heal, connect and lead healthy, happy lives. Her signature Holistic Packages combined targeted massage with affirmations and oracle card readings.
We met up with Jodie in her treatment studio to talk ideal weekends, personal training and local hikes.

First things first: why Toowoomba?
I have moved a lot! After growing up in the Gold Coast Hinterland, then the Snowy Mountains, I called Toowoomba home for most of my schooling. After school, I moved to Brisbane and studied massage. Since then, I lived and worked in my field and other random jobs in Canberra, Europe and other parts of Queensland. I returned to Toowoomba in 2010 to be closer to family when my eldest child was two. Toowoomba is a beautiful city for raising a family, and although as a teen I didn’t like it, returning as an adult has made me fall in love with this calm and peaceful place and be very happy to call it home and ground my roots here.

What is Bloom Holistic?
Bloom Holistic is centred around creating a space for women to connect deeply with themselves, to facilitate healing on all levels (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual) and to empower them to understand how to create a happy, healthy and passion filled life.
I achieve this through supporting women with a variety of both science-based natural health modalities and alternative/holistic techniques that are client-focused and take healing to the next level. This has been my work and passion for 17 years!
When you come to Bloom Holistic you can enjoy holistic therapies such as massage or naturopathy through to the divine Holistic Packages, which transport you to a state of complete balance and bliss. I also run 12 week programs focusing on how to navigate stress in life with greater ease, connect with your centre and truly bloom into who you are destined to be.

What have you learned about running a business in Toowoomba?
The beauty of this town is that we celebrate each other! Almost all my clientele originate from word of mouth referrals, which I feel is the best kind of advertising and is something that runs strong here. If you are good at what you do and love it, it shines through in your work and the locals appreciate and share that amongst each other. I know, I am one of them! I love supporting small business in our beautiful town. In my industry, the benefits are that it is not a flooded market, unlike the coast or Brisbane. The downside is that some people still think I’m too “woo woo” – which is cool, each to their own!
What does an average day look like for you?
Because I am a mother of four as well, my days are full – but I like to move as slowly and consciously in that fullness. We usually start the day with a short yoga stretch, the morning routine and off to school. I enjoy a PT session with (my amazing hubby) Ryan at Complete Body Toowoomba. During the remaining school hours I get to retreat into my treatment space – which I love just as much as my clients! – and support clients on their healing and wellness journey. Often there are tears, laughter, revelations and lots of good vibes. Once it’s time to put my Mum hat back on, I spend the rest of the day with my children and husband when he is home. Hanging out together, playing with our dog, swimming in the pool through to meal times, homework, back tickles and night time guided meditations. Full, but beautiful.

What does your ideal Toowoomba weekend look like?
Oooh. Well I work Saturdays, so some yoga on the deck, then a freshly pressed almond milk coffee and a Chocolate Powerhouse Smoothie from Full of Life Organics, then a day of working with my beautiful clients. Finishing the afternoon with a picnic and play in the Botanic Gardens with my family and friends. A sneaky little date night with my husband to Sofra’s Turkish or Toowoomba Thai.
Sundays are always for yin yoga with my husband and a breakfast date with us all to Raw Energy or The Baker’s Duck. We could hike through Jubilee Park trails, up TableTop or out to Crows Nest Falls. We would take the kids to sushi at Grand Central and pay a sneaky visit to Gelatissimo. Lastly, finishing the day with a relax in the beautiful Boyce Gardens doing art and reading oracle cards… bliss!

Only a Toowoomba local would know…
That once you get one red light on Ruthven Street, you’ll get them all. And that Mary Street turns purple in November from all the Jacaranda flowers!
