4 Local Markets to Support

At TFG, we’re all about supporting local (in case you hadn’t noticed), which is why we’re huge fans of the many markets in the region. From food to craft to plants, here’s some regular markets to have on your radar.

Shopping at markets is one of the best ways to support local producers and makers.

You can learn more about where things come from, you meet new people, and someone directly benefits from you showing up. It’s true what they say: when you shop small, a real person does a happy dance. Plus, the whole experience of a market is just a lovely way to spend a morning. Sip on a coffee as you browse, discover something new about our community, and stock up on delicious/beautiful things for your home. It’s a win-win!

TOOWOOMBA FARMERS MARKET

Best known as the ‘Cobb + Co Markets’ even though it’s not organised by Cobb + Co, nor technically on their land! Highlights include microgreens from Full Circle Farm, sourdough bread from The Baker’s Duck, freshly made pasta from Angelo’s and gourmet sausages from Wilgavale Organics. Right opposite Queens Park, it’s the perfect location to make a morning of it, followed by fresh coffee and pastries. Bring your own mug and bags, as the market is trying to go plastic-free.

Frequency: weekly
Timing: Saturdays from 7.00am – 12.00pm
Shop for: fresh produce plus meat, dairy and more

PCYC MARKETS

The largest farmers markets in Toowoomba, these weekly markets take over the carpark at the PCYC on James Street. One of the main forms of fundraising for the club, the market has operated on-site for over 25 years! If you’re looking for an affordable way to start your garden, this is a very popular way to do it. Many of the plant stalls have inexpensive tubestock as well as established plants. There’s also plenty of fresh produce, some trash and treasure, and an awesome stall that just sells spices.

Frequency: weekly
Timing: Sundays from 7.00am – 1.00pm
Shop for: fresh produce and plants

THE MAKERS MARKET

This market pops up under cover at Blank Space in The Mills Precinct every second and fourth Sunday. The warehouse is full of local makers and creators, from woodworkers and bakers to ceramicists and jewellers. There’s also live music, free activities for the kids, and dogs are welcome! There’s also foods trucks outside, with plenty of room to sit around and enjoy breakfast or lunch.

Frequency: fortnightly
Timing: Sundays from 8.00am – 1.00pm
Shop for: gifts and homewares

QUEENS PARK MARKET

Every third Sunday of the month, the Queens Park Market pops up to showcase boutique art and craft from across the region. With live music and food vendors, make a morning of strolling around the beautiful park – expect everything from gourmet food, art and craft, gifts and home wares, jewellery and clothing. All site fees are donated to St Vincent's Hospital Toowoomba.

Frequency: monthly
Timing: Sundays from 8.00am – 1.00pm
Shop for: arts and crafts
