No one can deny that COVID-19 has shaken up life for everyone, but performing arts and live music venues especially drew a short straw these past two years, with show after show cancelled. Arts Queensland is offering grants (up to almost $400,000!) to put independent artists across the state back in the limelight.
There’s two key grants currently taking applications.
The Independent Creation Fund supports Queensland employers of independent artists, such as small to medium arts organisations (think theatre producers, dance studios or performing arts venues). Applicants will need to apply with a project in mind – to the value of $40,000 – whether it’s costumes for a play or upgrades to your rehearsal studio. Applications close at 4.00pm, 17 January 2022.
The Live Music Support Program grant ranges from $100,000 and $380,000 depending on venue capacity, and ensures the tunes keep on coming in our local, dedicated music venues. Applications for this grant close midnight 6 December next week, so don’t delay.
Arts Queensland also offers grants for First Nations artists, touring exhibitions, and individual artists and cultural workers. To check eligibility and have a chance to score some life-changing funding for your organisation, submit your application via SmartyGrants.
