Think Pokémon Go meets geocaching, with a dash of scavenger-hunt fun. Come January 11 - January 31, we're hiding $10k in coins around Toowoomba. Follow the hints, hunt for coins and win the cash. With daily clues released on The Field Guide’s social media, players will decipher cryptic hints to uncover prizes scattered across the city.

In it’s simplest form, The Field Game is a coin hunt, and can be found by getting out and exploring the places that make Toowoomba so great. That being said, the clues are there to help you on your way. They won’t necessarily tell you ‘exactly’ where the coin is, but they will point you to the right are/ right direction and narrow down your search.

Participation is free, and it’s as easy as keeping an eye on social media, solving clues, and being the first to locate the prize.

Unlike some scavenger hunts where one clue leads to another clue and so on, The Field Game will release multiple clues each day via their channels to the location of various game coins and tokens (pictured), which are redeemable for real $$$, or with ‘Prize Token’ coins, various prizes at participating businesses around Toowoomba.

Part of the fun is, we actually do don’t know! The game ends when all of the coins have been found (that could be after 1 day, that could be after 10 days). That being said, this hunt will conclude officially at 5pm on January-31. At that point any un-found coins will be collected, and their value added to the next hunt (our plan is for this to be the first of many, and for this to become a major tourism event for the city).

Each token is marked with a value such as ‘5,000.00’ on the Gnome-side of the coin (redeemable for the $5,000.00 main prize). For this first event, there is a total cash pool of $10,000.00 as well as other prizes redeemable in the form of ‘Prize Tokens’.

Come January-11 the following coins will be in play:
- 1 x $5,000.00 Token
- 4 x $500.00 Tokens
- 8 x $250.00 Tokens
- 10 x $100.00 Tokens
- 20 x general “Prize Tokens”

Prize Tokens are redeemable at various shops and businesses around town in exchange for things like Cold Rock, Pastries, Donuts or Hot Drinks. We’ll keep you posted on the daily as to where to go. These will
be continuously re-hidden throughout the game duration.

The Field Game reserves the right to amend the number of coins and denomination of coins throughout the game, at its discretion, so long as such a change would not lead to a reduction in the total game prize pool.

Absolutely anybody! There are no restrictions on who can choose to participate. The event is free and takes place in publicly accessible locations. It’s as easy as keeping an eye on social media, solving clues, and being the first to locate the prize.

We’d encourage anyone to participate who is interested in exploring the city, clues, riddles, or winning some prizes. It is worth noting however that the event isn’t specifically aimed/designed for children, and most of the clues will be aimed at adults and are quite cryptic.

Likewise, this is a non-facilitated / non-coordinated event, meaning that participants are eligible to participate at their own discretion and in their own capacity, and no supervision is provided. Because of this, at your sole discretion we strongly encourage the supervision of minors, just as you would in any other public setting. In fact, why not make it a family activity and try to solve the riddles together.

Some coins will be easy to find, others may require a little more of a hunt. The main $5,000.00 coin will likely require several clues to be able to find its location - in fact the game is designed that way!
But it also doesn’t mean you can’t find them just by getting out, exploring the city, and keeping a watchful eye.

Coins could be anywhere, they could be behind chairs, under tables, stuck to a tree, wedged into a crack in a wall, or simply waiting in plain sight to be spotted.

Coins WON’T BE: underwater, buried, you won’t need to climb trees or scale buildings, and you don’t need to do anything unsafe to find them.

If a coin has fallen, shifted, moved into an unsafe area, position or location for some reason (i.e. due to the weather). Let us know, and we will organise where possible for it to be safely retrieved for you to redeem.

Coins will be released multiple times per day on The Field Game’s socials (we recommend turning on your notifications and favouriting the page for the duration of the game as not to miss an important update).

Some clues are literal, and some are riddles (we’ll leave that to you to decide which ones are which). Most clues will also have multiple correct answers.

Use the clues to narrow your search, and then get out and explore.

That depends a little on what kind of game coin / token you have found.

Prize Tokens: Coins / Tokens marked with ‘Prize Token’ have no monetary value, but are redeemable directly with a number of participating businesses around town. These could be things like Cold Rock, Pastries, Donuts or Hot Drinks. We’ll keep you posted on the daily as to where to go.

Those businesses will have dedicated days for which they can redeem those tokens. Only the business as communicated each day on our socials, will redeem them on that given day. Simply take your ‘Prize token to that business and redeem it for the prize as announced (not redeemable for cash or any other offer).

$$$ Tokens: Coins / Tokens marked with a ‘$$$’ value, are redeemable for cash directly with The Field Guide / The Field Game. A unique mobile phone number will be undated here, and published on our socials that can be contacted by those who find these coins, to arrange coin redemption and the transfer or funds within 2 business days. Prizes will not be paid out as cash.

The Field Guide & The Field Game reserve the right to add, remove, amend or modify the terms and conditions of The Field Game at any time a) where it believes it is in the best interest of participants, b) for public safety, c) due to inclement or undesirable weather that may adversely affect either participants, or the nature and flow of the game d) due to damage (or perceived damage) resulting from public participation in the game, or for any other reason, at it sees fit.

Notwithstanding the above, The Field Guide & The Field Game reserve the right to suspend, pause, terminate or delay The Field Game where it believes it is not in the best interests of either participants, the general public, local businesses or The Field Guide itself, to proceed.

Participants acknowledge that neither The Field Game, nor The Field Guide, now any directors, agents, or employees of such, are liable for any injury, (including death) or loss resulting from their participation in the game - and that participation in the game is purely at their own discretion and risk. Participation is deemed to be acknowledgement of these conditions.
