11 cabins to snuggle up in front of the fire
This region does cold weather well. To make the most of it, we’ve rounded up some cabins that are perfect for snuggling in on a cold weekend away. We’ve limited the selections to places less than two hours away, and cabins without fireplaces / firepits need not apply.

TINY KYA & TINY CHARLIE
(Pictured). For those looking to reset, step ‘into the wild' and disconnect, the Tiny Kya & Tiny Charlie tiny home escapes are great options for a low key getaway (and come with almost all the mod-cons you’re used to). Both have plenty of activitiy options from board games and books, to bush walking and Koala spotting (Tiny Kya even has an outdoor bathtub) they come complete with BBQ's and outdoor firepits for watching the night slip away.

The Cottage at Braeside has a cosy fireplace, fully equipped kitchen and private garden. Relax in the indoor spa with a cup of tea or a glass of wine and go crazy with the beautiful Hermés products provided. Build a camp fire as the sun sets, and enjoy locally-sourced breakfast provisions in the morning.

Diamondvale cottages
There’s a whole range of cottages to choose from at Diamondvale, but the tiny Forget-Me-Not Cottage is full of little luxuries. The king size bed has an electric blanket, there’s a fully-equipped kitchenette, and a combustion fireplace full of ironbark. Escape the rest of the world, and snuggle in style. And if you do choose to leave, there’s a whole range of breweries and wineries to try in Stanthorpe, as well as national parks to hike and boutiques to explore.

hazelmont cottage
Hazelmont Cottage sits right in the Ravensbourne rainforest. Whip up some pancakes with the breakfast basket provisions as your coffee brews, and play some boardgames all day as you completely lose track of time. Enjoy afternoon tea in the landscaped grounds, or explore the national park next door with a picnic basket or local produce and wine.

bunya mountains Cabin
This beautiful, modern cabin sits within the Bunya Ranges, 10 hectares of private mountain forest. It’s incredibly serene, and has both an indoor fire and an outdoor firepit. That’s a good amount of fire.
There are some licensed restaurants nearby, as well as a rotating roster of weekend markets in Dandebh, Kumbia, Cooyar, Bell, Maidenwell and Nanango. The forest walks in this part of the country are astonishingly beautiful.
The Bunya Mountains are an hour and a half away from Toowoomba.

The Boathouse’s secluded cottage includes a wood fire and a large bath for two. It’s located right on a small, private lake, which is a beautiful thing to swim in during summer, and a beautiful thing to look at in winter. Wake up to water views, and cuddle around the firepit a night as the sunsets over the lake. It’s like a whole other world here.

Cooby View is a farm stay, which gives you the option to feed the animals, milk the cows, and ride the horses. If you’re looking to get away, but not just sit around, this is the perfect place for you. Also perfect if your romantic weekend happens to include children. Cooby View is also pet friendly for small dogs, a rarity we know can be the make-or-break of a weekend away for many pet owners.
