No one likes an empty bookcase shelf.

It just doesn't feel right. While we wait for the annual Lifeline Bookfest in March, here are some of our favourite places to scour for a budget library.

Never Ending Stories

This large Lifeline store is tucked into the Range Shopping Centre. Entirely devoted to books, the store is a treasure-trove of non-fiction, fiction and magazines. Just remember it's closed on Sundays (which, if you're like us, you'll forget anyway).

Where: The Range Shopping Centre, 11 James Street

The Book Tree

As well as stunning cookbooks, the latest bestsellers and an interesting assortment of non-fiction, The Book Tree sells a variety of gifts, including chocolates, journals and diaries, and enough bookmarks for your entire bedside collection.

This CBD store hosts a roster of amazing author nights and book launches, which you'll find in the calendar.

The family business is managed by Ann Hewitt, who has a degree in literature – just the person to help find your next read.

Where: 456 Ruthven Street, City (next to Commonwealth Bank)

Jeremy’s Book store

Want to get away from the textbooks and read a book for fun? This store, located across from the University of Southern Queensland, is the perfect spot to find your study escape, or find extra resources for that assignment. You can bring in your already read books to keep them circulating and inspire the next person!

Where: 468 West Street (opposite the USQ driveway)
