Craft beer enthusiasts, meet your newest local taphouse, Mouse Proof.

The new venue is the brainchild of six passionate people/beer nerds – each with a background in agriculture or engineering – who wanted to show locals the importance of sustainability in brewing. And the name? Well, that’s a nod to co-founder John Bennett’s ‘mouse-proof shed’ he once lived in at his parents’ farm.

Patrons can enjoy house-brewed ale on the deck with a fire, or a stout in the industrial bar, built inside an old dairy factory. There’s also a small range of Witches Falls wines and Pechey Distillery gin, for those not in the mood for a brew.

With mountain bikes, vintage radios, and a picturesque deer head adorning the venue, Mouse Proof aims to be a familiar, warm tavern where people come to try original flavours, or return for their favourites. Mouse Proof is open now on Brook Street in Newtown.
