The annual Curious Arts Festival, opening this weekend, is attracting award-winning artists with international reputations to perform breathtaking circus, inspiring contemporary music and thrilling breakdance.

Run from the Empire Theatre Precinct from Thursday 31 March through to Saturday 2 April, the festival features a program of circus, dance, music and cabaret. While some events are ticketed, there’s plenty of free entertainment, perfect for families or groups looking for some entertainment this weekend.

Having performed in over 24 countries and with a string of five-star reviews, internationally renowned Casus Circus are set to delight with their intimate and visually stunning physical theatre production, You & I. For a change of pace, check out A Good Catch, the hilarious circus for the whole family. Watch as three intergenerational women tumble, talk, fly and precariously balance.

The festival is also adding Fresh Twist to the program, an event designed to attract Toowoomba’s emerging music fan base to an all-ages experience. Tia Gostelow headlines on Saturday as the youngest winner of Triple J’s Album of the Year for “Thick Skin” and nominee for the National Indigenous Music Awards. Supporting are The Beamish Brothers with their fresh song writing ideas, harmonies and signature acoustic styles. Their featured multi-talented act Jude York will sing his Eurovision Australia Decides song I Won’t Need to Dream.
