I love to catch up with friends during the week, but it feels like everything happens on the weekend. What’s happening in town Monday-Thursday nights?

Right?! Why should weekends have all the fun? There’s a ton of things happening in town during the week. We’ve rounded up a list of midweek events and activities that mean you can easily catch up with friends after work any night you feel like it.

TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE WITH SOCIAL TRIVIA GAMES

Are you the friend with the best music taste (or think you are)? Show off your music knowledge every Wednesday night at Bodega, Toowoomba’s new speakeasy bar. Entertaining guest hosts bust out all the bangers from 7.00pm to crown the champion muso with prizes on offer.

General knowledge your stronger suit? There’s also Tuesday Trivia Nights at Fitzy’s and The Spotted Cow, and The Met hosts a Wednesday night Quiz Meisters. Gather some friends and start thinking of that cheesy team name.

GET YOUR PICASSO ON (with some wine on the side)

At both Pinot and Picasso and The Sip Studio, you and your art-loving friends can get creative at social painting night. Whether it’s some still life flowers or a cartoon cow, these sessions are great for a relaxed night and run throughout the week. You can even book a function for a unique party, where guests can take home their painted memory from the night.

At Tinker Art, there’s a range of arts and crafts workshops for you to try your hand at. Choose from polymer clay earrings, watercolour painting, ceramic mugs, and more in these sessions taught by the talented Alex Stalling and some hand-selected locals.

SQUEEZE A WORKOUT IN

Weekends are just for sitting back, so you may as well get your session/s out of the way during the way. There’s a range of fitness classes available, and you can book a class to try without committing to a full term or membership.

For example, Pole Angels offers group classes as well as private lessons for you to build your confidence. Or, the Toowoomba Zumba Squad teaches a workout (that’s more like a party) on Tuesday and Thursday nights. At Dance Connection, you can join social dancing nights and learn Latin, ballroom, and sequence routines in a fun and relaxed environment.

FEEL ALL THE NOSTALGIA WITH RETRO ARCADE GAMES

If you haven’t heard of Spacies, you’re definitely missing out on a world of fun. Tucked away in a laneway, this bar is scattered with all the retro games your nostalgic heart desires: from pinball to PAC-MAN. Bring a friend (and plenty of $2 coins) for a Thursday or Friday night of good drinks and even better play.

CATCH A SHOW

Whether it’s comedy or ballet that’s more your groove, you can watch touring acts at the Empire Theatre, or local student talent at the USQ School of Creative Arts.

The community theatre society, the Toowoomba Repertory Theatre (known as The Rep), presents four major productions each year as well as a theatre festival. They’ll perform their comedy show One Last Hitch each night in November.

Why not follow dinner in town with a showcase of local talent?

ENJOY LIVE MUSIC

We’re spoiled for choice with live music playing all week long. The Rock has local talent on stage seven days a week in its beer garden, while Bodega comes alive on Wednesdays and Thursdays (and well into the weekend) with stellar rock bands. The Met’s house band, Fenny & The Mets, play every Thursday night.

Bar Wunder hosts indie and folk artists that are perfect to wind down to after a long day of work, as well as bingo, stand-up comedy and movie nights.

GRAB A MEAL DEAL

Make any night a date night with a range of meal specials throughout the week at some of the city’s most-loved venues. Vapiano’s ‘Cheap Chewsdays’ offers pizzas and pastas for just $12, while Piccolo Papà serves up fresh pasta straight from a cheese wheel on Wednesday nights.

Tailgate Sports Bar has a special every night Monday to Thursday, including a burger and beer for $20 and a Wednesday wings deal: conquer 1kg of wings for just $15.

Have you got a go-to weeknight activity that we missed? Let us know, and we’ll create a Part 2!
