The Write Gallery, within The Lighthouse, has just announced Water – One World: Two Stories, a live event and exhibition hosted in both English and Farsi.

The exhibition includes images created by children in Iran and Australia as their response to one single word “water”. It provides an opportunity to see the interpretations of this concept and how extremely varied this can be. The didactics (the artists’ blurb shared with the viewer) will be presented in both Farsi (Persian) and English.

On “digital display” will be books created by children – who have worked with either Varta Publishing in Iran or Boogie Books in Toowoomba, the world’s only two publishing businesses in the world who publish books written and illustrated by children for children – that have been translated in both Farsi and English. At the live events held at The Write Gallery in July, the stories behind the images will be told in both languages through a live Zoom call to Iran.

The Lighthouse – Toowoomba's place for creativity – has a dedicated youth writers’ centre for children to explore literacy-based programs for free, as well as workshop spaces for creative pursuits for adults, a gift shop for those little things that you can't find elsewhere, and an experiential art gallery with regularly changing immersive exhibitions.

The Water – One World: Two Stories exhibition runs until the 24 July, and schools and community groups are welcome to make bookings to visit.
