The QLD Music Trails Opera at Jimbour, one of the most anticipated cultural events in the Australian calendar, is set to celebrate its 21st anniversary in style this May 10-12. (P.S. is this not the most sophisticated way to spoil Mum this Mother's Day weekend?).

Returning with its most enchanting program to date, the event will showcase an elevated line-up of nationally and internationally renowned soloists and chamber musicians, including Opera QLD, Ensemble Q, Camerata—Queesland's Chamber Orchestra—and a 26-piece Orchestra from Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.

The 3-day event, which originally started as a concert in a paddock, has evolved over the years into an intimate engagement with Jimbour Homestead itself.

This year sees the return of the Amphitheatre stage for an afternoon of memorable performances, including Puccini's operatic masterpiece, Tosca, and celebrated performances by Opera Queensland soloists.

2024 also sees the venue's enchanting aircraft hanger and halls of the historic Jimbour House play host to a series of bespoke events and exclusive tours that promise to be unforgettable.

Speaking about the evolution of the event, David Russell, the third generation owner and custodian of the historic estate said, "Opera at Jimbour has developed into one of the defining events in the Queensland and Australian cultural calendars. It showcases the best of what the Darling Downs region has to offer."

Guests can indulge in a carefully curated food and wine experience at the Jimbour House Long Lunch or explore local delicacies and artisan crafts at the Jimbour markets. This celebration promises to be a unique experience and an opportunity to witness these exceptional talents in such an intimate setting.

"We at Jimbour are excited to welcome those who have followed this progress, and those who this year will experience it for the first time. The team at Queensland Music Trails, with the support of Opera Queensland, Western Downs Regional Council, and ours at Jimbour, have put much effort into ensuring this will be an experience worthy of the occasion”, David says.

Opera at Jimbour promises to be an unforgettable event, celebrating 21 years of music, culture, and community. Tickets and more information, including how to get to Jimbour, camping, artists, and FAQs, are available here.
