George Banks
Perched on the rooftop of the heritage sandstone bank on the corner of Ruthven and Margaret Streets, this glamorous bistro and bar looks out across the city. At night, the retractable roof opens up to the stars, sending a breeze through the well-groomed hairstyles of the city’s most chic.
George Banks has provided Toowoomba with a vibrant dining option that is both relaxed and sophisticated. Depending on the night you arrive, it may feel more bar or more bistro. The menus, served at both lunch and dinner, are designed to share with friends alongside an easy wine list and a selection of classic cocktails. The menu changes occasionally, to make the most of local, seasonal produce.
There is always something happening here. Every Friday afternoon, GB serves free finger food from 4-6pm to accompany your knockoff drinks, while the Sunday Soirées is all about cocktails, live DJ music and on occasion a whole suckling pig for the crowd to share.
