The Australian Army Drone Racing Team will take to the skies on Friday 26 May, 2023, as part of the Digitrek Regional Roadshow in Toowoomba.
As the demand for technology, cyber security and artificial intelligence specialists continues to grow across the state, the initiative by Digitrek and Tafe Queensland, aims to provide regional Queenslanders with greater insight into the digital skills required by the workforce of the future.
The roadshow, featuring robotics, AI, drones and emerging technology, will be held across four days, starting with a launch event in Roma on the evening of Monday 22 May, day one on Tuesday 23 May at TAFE Queensland's Roma campus, followed by day two on Wednesday 24 May at the Chinchilla Showgrounds, day three on Thursday 25 May at the Kingaroy campus, and culminating on day four on Friday 26 May at the Toowoomba campus.
The free face-to-face workshops will showcase the career and business opportunities that can be harnessed through cutting-edge technology.
Two streams will be available at each event, one specifically designed for high schools students, and the other for businesses and interested community members.
“The program is packed with workshops suited for students, people looking for a career change, educators, business owners, and those already working in the field,” Ms Butler, TAFE Queensland General Manager of the South West Region said.
“From an adrenalin-fuelled display of the Australian Army Drone Racing Team’s flying, building and repairing skills, to discovering how drones and other machinery can being used to capture and analyse valuable information to transform Australian farming, the sessions are sure to engage and inspire.” she said.
Enabled through funding from the State of Queensland Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy, TAFE Queensland has worked closely with industry to develop sessions that offer both practical insight and direct application to regional and remote communities.
Digitrek Regional Roadshow participants will unpack concepts, problem solve and learn new tech skills to open up a world of career and business possibilities.
Participants will receive the opportunity to access a 6-month subscription to Digitrek’s Go-1 online learning platform, featuring hundreds of online digital micro-credentials and courses.
