I am seriously excited to tell you that Toowoomba has been named the fifth city in Australia to be awarded a CreativeMornings chapter – after Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

For those who don’t know me, my name is Phoebe Tully and I am the person behind The Field Guide (alongside the very talented Morgan Smith behind the lens). I am now also the chapter host of CreativeMornings/Toowoomba.

The vision of both CreativeMornings and The Field Guide is simple: a rising tide lifts all boats. By launching these platforms that celebrate and showcase the incredible things Toowoomba has to offer, I truly believe that we can all play a part in creating the city we want to live in.

what is creativemornings?

In 2008, Tina Roth Eisenberg (Swissmiss) started CreativeMornings out of a desire for an ongoing, accessible event for New York’s creative community. The concept was simple: breakfast and a short talk one Friday morning a month. Every event would be free of charge and open to anyone.

Today, attendees gather in cities around the world. Volunteer hosts organise local chapters that not only celebrate a city’s creative talent, but also promote an open space to connect with like-minded individuals. CreativeMornings remains free thanks to the support of local sponsors, generous venues, and long-term global partners.

Everyone is welcome. Everyone is creative.

Just register beforehand to reserve your spot. And if you need a little help convincing your boss to let you attend, we’ve got you covered.

How did this happen?

Last year I worked with local videographer Jade Courtney on an application video to the CreativeMornings HQ in Brooklyn, New York. After a few other steps, we found out at the end of January that our application had been successful.

how can I join in?

If you’re interesting in attending the events, make sure you go over to the CreativeMornings/Toowoomba website and join the newsletter. You might also like to join us on Facebook or Instagram to keep updated on a day-to-day basis (but note that all registrations will be done through email).

The events will be free to attend and completely run by volunteers.

If you are interested in sponsoring CreativeMornings events, I would love to hear from you! Local sponsorship is going to be vital. Plus it’s a very cool opportunity for you to be named alongside Adobe, Wordpress and Mailchimp!

And if you’re interested in joining the team, I’d also love to hear from you! We’re always going to be seeking volunteers to join our community, including:

  • Photographers to capture the events

  • Designers to create killer graphics for us

  • Morning People to make our community welcome

Just email me with your portfolio (photographers/designers) or quick intro (morning people).

This is going to be lots of fun. I can’t wait to meet you all -

Phoebe
