Banter Coffee Kitchen
Stephen Payton is regarded as one of the city’s most talented baristas, and the brews here – made on Dukes Coffee beans – prove no exception to this reputation.
Whether it’s to-go, or to dine in at one of the espresso-style benches or the long community table outside, the team here take their coffee seriously, whether or not you do too. They wholly endorse beans that are ethically traded and sourced from individual farms and small co-operatives – these are people who care about their coffee as well as the people who make it.
Paintings by local artists hang the wall like an ever-rotating gallery (The Brouhaha Gallery), and there are small, thoughtful touches like this throughout the space. The café also offers meaningful employment opportunities to our local migrant and refugee community, and the plan is soon to offer comprehensive hospitality training as well.
