ABOUT / This stunning East Toowoomba café has long been a favourite of locals, and with good reason. Built in 1911 as a summer residence for its owners to escape the heat and humidity of the coast, Valetta saw a life as a private residence, guest house and antiques gallery, before its restoration and transformation into Café Valetta in 2004. The name itself comes from the Maltese capital city of “Valletta”.

DESIGN & VIBE / Nestled within the grounds of one of Margaret Street’s historic buildings, expect old world charm with wooden floorboards, stained glass windows and original pressed metal ceilings - lending to an almost reminiscent European feel and a subtle vibe of vintage romanticism. Outside, the veranda and vine-covered pergola are the perfect retreat to overlook Queens Park and Valetta’s manicured gardens.

FOOD / Think elevated café menu, with broad choices to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. They won’t need to be though, cause everything here is delicious.

HIGHLIGHT / Porridge in general has had a major glam-up in recent years, and the creamy coconut & cinnamon porridge topped with rhubarb, strawberries, goji berries & vanilla bean mascarpone is no exception (trust us). The flavors ‘just work’ and the goji berries add an almost candy-like texture – plus it’s porridge, so it’s healthy right?

BONUS / Go all in and book yourself a High Tea, and sip bottomless earl grey (our pick) from fine English china as you watch the fog roll over the park (just be sure to book a few days in advance as they make all their treats fresh in-house).
