The Field Guide’s Weekly Email will be on holidays until EARLY January, but we haven’t forgotten you!

Here’s a big round-up of ideas, with something for everyone. Thank you so much for your support in 2023, and we can’t wait to bring you more of Toowoomba’s greatest hits in 2024. Keep an eye on our socials for more.

  1. Support local farmers and artisans at these amazing local market options.

  2. Designate a driver, jump in the car, and check out these easy day trips.

  3. Round up the leftovers and have a picnic in one of our favourite spots.

  4. Continue shopping local and support these local designers.

  5. Test yourself at the Tick Tock Escape Room. Book in for an hour with some friends, and then follow up with a huge dinner in a cosy corner of El Attar.

  6. Get a jumpstart on your New Years resolutions and check out this list of free fitness ideas.

  7. Go shopping for some new plants — indoor or outdoor — at these local nurseries.

  8. Keep everyone happy and visit a vegan-friendly restaurant with the family.

  9. Get a crazy amount of cardio in as you jump around the indoor trampolines at Kloud9ine. Sessions start on the hour, and you can just turn up without booking. Who’s up for a killer game of dodgeball?

  10. Explore some hidden gems in the CBD.

  11. Kick everyone out of the house and unwind with these essentials.

  12. Wait for the rain and then work yourself through this list of indoor activities.

  13. Go for a mind-blowingly beautiful hike.

  14. Go for a drive up north towards Crows Nest and stop into all the awesome local businesses on the way.

  15. Check out some live music.

  16. Relive your tween years and go indoor bowling. Try Sunset Superbowl which charges $21 for two games - not bad for an afternoon!

  17. Pop one of these bottles of sparkling — or really, as many bottles as you’d like.

  18. Book yourself in for a much-needed massage.

  19. Hit up a Sunday session — even though every day is basically a Sunday when you’re on holidays.

  20. Order delivery. You deserve it.

  21. Sign up for a free membership at the library. Members are entitled to borrow from a huge range of books, magazines and newspapers. Either find some new reads to take home, or settle down into one of their reading areas and get stuck in.

  22. Hire a tennis court for a friendly match — followed by a cold jug of Pimm’s, obviously.

  23. Take your puppy for a coffee.

  24. Go to the movies, obviously.

  25. Learn something new and book into one of these workshops or classes.

  26. Try something new and cook up a storm with ingredients from a local international grocer.

  27. Play around with some blooms and come up with your own beautiful arrangements.

  28. Do a belated life spring clean.

  29. Challenge some friends to a few games at Flipp’d or head to iPlay in Grand Central. Between the arcade games and Baskin-Robbins (iPlay), you’ll be able to amuse yourself for a few hours. Then pop over to Vapiano on the other side of the road for drinks and pizza.

  30. Check out the Cobb+Co Museum, followed by tea and scones in the café. There’s often an art exhibition or workshop happening.

  31. Grab a beer at one of Toowoomba’s local breweries like Mouseproof, Volcanic, Bone Idol, Monty’s or 4 Brothers, and settle in for a few rounds of Connect Four.
